What is NUCCA Care?
NUCCA is an acronym which stands for the National Upper Cervical
Chiropractic Association. NUCCA is a highly specialized chiropractic
procedure that focuses on the correction of spinal mis-alignment without
drugs or surgery. The doctors of the College
Park Chiropractic Clinic utilize
a hand adjusting procedure to gently correct spinal mis-alignments.
The NUCCA procedure practiced by the doctors of College
Park Chiropractic Clinic
places great importance on the correction of the misalignment of
entire spine, skull & pelvis. In doing so, leg-length in-equalities
are corrected.
There are six primary issues of concern to the doctors of College
Park Chiropractic Clinic and their patients regarding spinal mis-alignments.
- Pre x-rays determine the precise mis-alignment of the spine,
skull & pelvis.

- Corrections are all made by hand from the top bone of the spine (the
atlas). This corrects the entire spine (neck, mid-back, lower back
and hips).

- For the adjustment, patients lie on the table on their
side without turning their head, neck or back.
- During the procedure, patients feel a light pressure on the side
of the neck, below the ear.
- Post x-rays immediately following the initial correction ensure
its accuracy.

- A ten to fifteen minute rest after the adjustment encourages the spine
to stabilize in its new (corrected) position.
The NUCCA procedure restores the skull, spine and hips to their proper
position. This takes the pressure off the nerves and allows the body
to return to a neutral, balanced position. From this position, the malfunctioning
body systems begin to recover and heal.

The NUCCA Difference
At the College
Park Chiropractic Clinic the doctors use a procedure called NUCCA.
This is a specialty of Chiropractic in which we measure the exact
misalignment of the spine. With this information we determine how
much pressure there is on the nervous system, especially the brainstem.
The brain and the body (organs, muscles, joints, etc.) constantly
communicate through the spinal cord. If there is pressure on the
spinal cord in any area it can prevent the body from functioning
at 100%.

Before the NUCCA procedure can be administered, the Doctors at the
College
Park Chiropractic Clinic screen patients to determine if they qualify,
through an exam. If qualified, three-dimensional x-rays are taken
of the spine to determine the amount of misalignment within millimeters
and degrees. With this information the doctor can determine how to
correct the problem.
After the x-rays are analyzed the doctor will go over the findings
with the patient, any questions will be answered and then the NUCCA
procedure is performed. The procedure is a gentle pressure applied
near the level of the earlobe in a specific direction to move the
spinal structures back into their proper position.
Over all, the NUCCA difference can be summed up in 8 major distinctions
as compared to Traditional Chiropractic:
- Force is much lighter
- Cost Over the Life Time is lower
- Visit Frequency is lower
- Comfort Level is higher
- Proof of Correction is higher
- Stability is higher
- Accuracy is higher
- Treatment Specificity is higher
