WHAT TO KNOW IF YOU’RE IN AN ACCIDENT

While no one ever wants to be in an automobile accident, it is important to know how to proceed with treating your injuries should you ever be involved in one. At Orlando Spine Center we treat many of the most common automobile accident-related injuries such as neck and back injuries and whiplash injuries.

Many times, individuals who have been injured in a car accident have so much muscle pain and stiffness that they simply cannot function normally. This discomfort, on top of other injuries, can be a serious issue. On the flip side, many people don’t feel they have any injuries or complication from the accident…at first.  Often, it can take weeks before symptoms from the accident begin to surface.  The important thing to know here is YOU MUST FILE A CLAIM WITH YOUR INSURANCE WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE ACCIDENT if you want them to cover your care.  At Orlando Spine Center, we suggest you open a claim immediately and then make an appointment so we can evaluate you for accident related problems.  Best case scenario – everything checks out and you can close the claim immediately.  Worst case scenario – you wait two weeks before feeling pain and it’s too late to open a claim and care becomes “out-of-pocket” for you.

INSURANCE COVERAGE SUMMARY

In Florida, despite of who is at fault, you will either have 80% coverage, in which you are responsible for 20% of the charges, or you will have 100% coverage.  Some policies may have a deductible that must be reached first.  We’ll verify all that information for you on your first visit.  What’s important is that you have opened a claim with your insurance company first.

Also, you are automatically covered for up to $2500 of care.  If you have an “Emergency Medical Condition” as a result of the accident then your insurance will cover up to $10,000 in care.
